The reopening of the Gaza border following a deadly Hamas terror attack has been welcomed by Israelis, including those at a Jewish seminary in Israel. Yeshivat Eitam, a seminary located just south of the Gaza border, saw three of its students killed by Hamas rockets during the attack, leaving the seminary community deeply affected.
In light of the tragedy, local rabbis and administrators have been working with Israeli security forces to make sure the border crossing is able to be fully opened once again and create a sense of safety for the community. The rabbis have also emphasized the need for solidarity with the people of Gaza, who they recognize have been deeply affected by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
In response to the reopening of the border, Yeshivat Eitam has held special prayer services to commemorate the lives of those lost and to further emphasize the ongoing call for peace between Israel and the Palestinian people. Through increased dialogue, the members of the seminary hope to be at the forefront of a continued process of healing and understanding.
